It's gonna Store on the Texas Baseball report with your host ripped gripping. Hey, what's wrong? Guys? Welcome to this live twitter space edition of the text spaceboard report. So on this episode, yeah, we're going to be talking a little bit of a Houston ashvills baseball. It's going to be since they are not playing on this Thursday night. We are going to kind of recap and kind of see what, you know, they've done so far this season. That's been a pretty phenomenal season. We've had lots of people that you know, talk about after spaceball all the time, ashes podcast whatnot. So that's we're going to do here is kind of set the tone for a little bit. Where about the third of the way through this season right now? For the ashes, are currently sitting at thirty six and twenty one fits seven games so far.

So but you know, the ashows are doing fretty well. There's a lot of things that we, you know, need to see more out of and what kind of talk about this on this this twitter space once maybe we might get a couple more people to kind of join in on the on the conversation where it's not just me just rambling right now. But but yeah, I mean we'll kind of touch on a lot of different things. Like I mentioned, ashlows are doing great. I think it's just one of those that they are going to need to kind of make some moves here as we get closer to the all star break, which is coming up. The treade deadlines also come up as well. It's going to be one of those that we got to see what they're going to do to make that push to October. I think they are a lot of key moves that still need to be made because in certain area is like, for example, first base, the catchy position. What's going to happen with passive, the possibility of lands for colors coming back? What's going to happen when Jake Myers comes back and center field? I can still stick with Jake Myers. Are they going to go with a platoon with Chas McCormick and Jose Serie and Jake Myers all at one? But it's in the interesting to see how everything shapes out. For the ASHTOWS. That mean they're like I'm sad, they're doing great. They are still, you know, in my opinion, the front runners when we look at the American League West, because this this division is probably one of the most weakest divisions in the American League aside from the America like central. The shows are the only team in the in the Ao West that are currently above five hundred. Every the team is below. And you've got the the angels that are sitting and and second place at thirty one, but they've also lost fourteen...

...straight. I don't understand how that happens. But then you've got the Texas Rangers that are starting to kind of come into their their offensive production a little bit more at twenty six and thirty. They'll play again tomorrow on Friday kicking office series, that weekend series against the Chicago White Sox, so that's going to be a good series as well, as the white sox are not really doing too well as far as will be all expected, at Twenty Six and twenty nine, but you know, they're still five and a half games behind first place Minnesota, who's actually well. They were tied with the Yankees this evening but the Yankees up taking the lead eight and two, seven there on the top of the seventh right now. So I'm done. Twins are doing good. They got call his career back. So a lot of things, especially in the American league. The Yankees are are pretty much dominating the Al East right now, which is interesting. We didn't expect that to happen right away. They've got some good time a pitching. Hitting has been good as well. So it's going to be something that we need to see what they're going to do come the rest of the season, because they obviously cannot keep up with this intensity and this play for the remaining what are we almost a hundred games, a hundred and three games now we're about a hundred and about a hundred and six games probably still left to go. That was really good at math, but I kind of guessed make over a hundred. Over a hundred games still left. SO TAMPA BAY coming in at thirty four and twenty three. They're six and a half back, but anything can happen. Toronto was one of those teams that we thought would be a little bit more at least towards the top of the division. They're seeing right there at third. So a lot of different things to kind of shape out for the American league. That the season work to end today, which would be on Thursday,...

...we would have the Yankees being the number one, see the ashrows being number two and with this new expanded playoff system, then the astros and the Yankee's would have first round by so that's something that kind of think about as well as we get closer to October. So but a lot of good things for the Astros. As far I con mentioned, they do that second best record the American league behind the New York Yankees. So right now, offensively for the Astros, if you're looking at you know they're sitting at twenty and twenty two place as far as all teams with the two hundred and thirty five body average. So it's not the best. But but you know, this offense, we just haven't seen much of it yet and I think when they begin to kind of start to figure out things and kind of get things whatever Mojo they need to keep going, they'll get it going. I think once it's often sticks off, it's going to be fantastic and these guys are going to just completely distance themselves shoot for that number one see going into the postseason, because that's what you want. You want that that first round. We will have that first round by if you're the set that one of the two top teams in the American league, but best record gets home full of advantage. So that's what you need. But I mean, when we look at the past postseason experiences with the Astros, mainly in two thousand and nineteen and twenty one world series teams, they had the best record, that had the home field advantage, but it did quite work out for them. Maybe there's something to be read into that. I don't know. I don't know it's possible, but we'll see what happens. We'll see. But Dash was right. Now, from a pitching standpoint, I mean, Gosh, this team has been fantastic and of course we can't talk astro's pitching without talking about Justin burlander,...

...because he has been absolutely phenomenal coming back post Tommy down which we're going to continue to say that over and over again until the season ends. And I mean when you look at this team as as a whole, I mean collectively, you mean Justin burlander has been slip and sitting at the top of just about every category that there is as far as as pitching is concerned. When we look at the the top leaderboards when it comes to pitching, I mean you look at burlander right now, sitting eight with a two hundred and thirteen eara wins. He's tied for first with seven. When we look at other things, it hasn't really having shutouts yet because it really hasn't had the chance. Well, he has had the chance to go the distance, but he I think he does have a complete game. I have to go back and look, but in he's pitched he's at seventy two point one, which is tied for seventh. His average is one hundred and eighty three. His whip is at eight four, which is that which is first in the end and all of Major League Baseball. You know, he has winning percentages as a seven, seven hundred and eighty seven seventy eight. Excuse me, that's only a few ticks behind Yankees Garrett Cole and Jenison Tire. So you cannot talk after his pitching without talking about Justin for later. Absolutely phenomenal. Absolutely, he's been doing great. It's going to be fun because I think the rest of this astros rotation, pitching, pull pin has been much improved. Now there's still a lot of work to be done, specially when you look at guys like cozy, your Kidi, who has just just needs to find his location. He needs to be able to pinpoint places. fastball work off...

...as off speed. I think that's what's struggling with them right now because he's we all saw. We all saw in two thousand and nineteen. Now we cannot compared to thousand nineteen, two thousand and twenty two, because there have been a lot of things that have changed since then. But when we look at pitching, and you know, we think his earra should be better than the what he's pitching, I mean his record. He's five and three right now. He's got a five point zero for Uira and eleven games that he's started this year. Fifty five innings pitched. He's only given up every three runs, thirty one runs, eleven home runs, but the walks have been kind of a little bit more excessive compared to the other starters, like Christian Hobbier, he's had more walks. He's got sixteen. Louise CARCI has got sixteen. So I take that back. His walks have been kind of in check. He's only got twelve. But there's other things that we need that I was at your Kidi needs to focus on. That, I believe, will allow him to be more effective because if not in the ashes, having guy down in sugarland right now that everybody's heard of, that's hotter Brown. Haunter Brown is one of the most bill I would say he is the top prospect in the Astros or organization. Now he was ranked the top five, but now he's kind of bumped himself up. He is the number one pitching prospect and to you've got to give him a lot of credit because he's ready and it's going to be interesting to see what the Astros do in order to kind of alleviate some of this. This rotation row was kind of towards the back end of the rotation, because the thing is with Hunter Brown, he may seem like he's to be Major League ready, and I think he is,...

...but there's a risk that the Ashtros are possibly wanting really what I take the back they don't want to take the risk because if you bring him up too soon, even though he technically is ready, and he has a setback, he struggles, then he's going back down to sugar land, that could set back his progression and possibly his his timetable to actually return to the big leagues. So it's one of those things. Do you get bring him up, do they not bring him up? What? What? What exactly are they going to do? It's tough. It's really is tough because Hunter Brown is he is one of the most dynamic pictures it down there in AAA right now. You know, just kind of looking at some of his stats. Now this is through all of baseball, so from the independent are scheming, from the international and Pacific Coast League's. Right now hunter Brown is sitting five with a two, two hundred and thirty nine Arra. He's got some other his strikeouts. He's third in Strikeoutswix with sixty nine. Some other things that he just continues to dominate pictures and he's averaging eight, nine, ten strikeouts a game, so he's definitely ready. You know it is is average right now is a one hundred and ninety three, which is very similar to what just burn lander is Justin burlinger's kind of covering around that. That kind of the range in the one S, the one hundred and ninety range as far as average, and you kind of look at some other things, since whip is a one point one four. So he's he's top ten. Is Right number nine and Apaa right now. So Hunter Brown is the guy that I believe that the Astros are going to have to really figure out what they want...

...to do, because Brown is going to force the ashtows hand, just like the just like Jack Myers did last season. He forced the ash throws hand to call him up, and I think that the same thing is going to happen with with haunter Brown. He's going to force the ash those Hay and they're going to have to make a decision as to what they're going to do, because this team is definitely primed to make a postseason run, especially a deep October run, and when we look at kind of where the teams are as far as rankings projections, the Astros are pretty much right in the thick of things. As far as the the postseason, we especially when we look at Fan grouse. Prank grass is probably my best go to for any type of stats and whatnot, the kind of see where each team is going to be like. Right now, the Astros at ninety nine percent to make the playoffs, just by the way they're playing, just based on the record. Romans at the sixty game mark. So that's kind of where the ashows are. So ninety nine percent to make the playoffs, Ninety six point nine to make to actually win the division, which pretty obvious really. We look at the Summerica League West Division, which is one that you know, the angels are still second place, which I talked about that and I'm not going to talk about that again. But you're eighty eight point nine percent to clise the first round by but twelve point two percent to win the world series. That is pretty phenomenal compared to the Yankees, eleven point six, the mets ten point eight and the dodgers at sixteen point two. So they have the second best percentage to win the world series. That's pretty that's pretty impressive right there,...

...looking at this ashtose team that continues to just do things and continue to just play except baseball. There's going to be some things that they are going to need. That I mentioned at the trade deadline. Will see there's like a lot of guys down there and triple a, patro Leon Corey jokes, guys that are continuing to force the Ashull hand to do think, and that's the tell all, F all, whatever you want to call it, the ashes need to do to get over that when that world series so but but yeah, I mean it's it's great to see the Ashtros as they are right now and saying it in first place, and I really think that they just need to get going. There's going to be some pieces to the some to the wheel that they're going to have to add eventually, because you've got things like the catcher position, for example. But touch on the catcher position, because there's been a lot of talk about get rid of cash throw, get rid of Martini Outon Otto. Bring up Corel corely maybe back, maybe ready as well, because he is a dual direct catcher. He can, he can obviously has good defense, but he has. Offense is bat is there, but I still think he needs to get more at bats and AAA before they call him up. I really think we'll see corely. We will see him in two thousand and twenty two. He will probably probably be around a sub timber call up, because that's just what the ashes need to do just to get him more experience. And then once Martine Outon Otto and Jason Castro,...

...those two guys are off the books after two thousand and twenty two, then the team is Coryla's to take that at that point. So but yeah, they've got there, Pat Real Leon, they've got the corey jokes, like I mentioned. So there's a lot of talent, a lot of counts sitting there in Aala right now ready to come up, and definitely is. They are. They're making a push very, very soon and we will see all of them as well. So but, like I mentioned, let's talk about Jason Castro and Martine Mota do now. There's one reason why the Astros Have Mal Donato and Castro. Modernatto is one of the best defensive catchers that is playing right now, aside from maybe who would be a another defensive catcher. Got Your Molina one of those future hall of fame or I wouldn't put hall of fame in the category from Martin Madonatto, but from a defensive catching position Bott I was one of the best. But when we look at at stats, wise the production is not their offensively, and that's something that's got to be a concern for, of course, Astros fans and of course the organization as well, because you want some production there, there in your eight and nine hole, and that's where Castro and mom and I don't have been but they haven't done anything, and that's the it's kind of scary because we need more production. And I think when you get guys like Modern Otto, for example, he's batting one hundred and forty, one hundred and thirty one, excuse me, with only for home runs, Thirteen R bis. Now...

...he's not want it's going to hire you with power, okay, you's got a two hundred and three on base percentage, a to two hundred and forty six slugging, four hundred and forty nine ops, and that's a hundred forty five plate appearances right now. And then you've got Jason Castro, who's batting way below that. Mind does a lie at a point ninety one, although he does it play a whole lot mother. That not only takes about he's got probably on extra fifteen games on on Castro. So they kind of have been splitting time a little bit. But looking at cashow, he's been in twenty seven games, fifty five at bats, does not have a home run, one RBI, seven walks, but his on base percentage is a two hundred and three slugging one hundred and twenty seven ops, three hundred and thirty and sixty four plate appearances. Regardless of your getting the the at bats or not. For the playing time, it's still it's still questionable now that ashes could go out and possibly make a trade. There's been a lot of different trade talks. Are Trade Scenarios. I should say Wilson Contraras from the cubs is probably one of the best primary prospects, I would say prospects, primary targets for the hashhows to possibly go out, if they do decide to go out and make a trade to get one of these two kind of beef up their catching position. Now, who would they have to give up and return to see to get them make that trade work? And I wouldn't hope that they would not give up their top prospects, which would be Coreli, hunt around and page Leon, maybe corduals. They've got a couple other pictures that...

...are starting to develop more and more and get better and better, like Alex Santos, for example. He's definitely one that can possibly be beyond the trading block. And it's just because the Ashtros, if they want to go out and win a world serious they're going to need to beef up that lower part of the light up now. Obviously we need to see more production from LEX Bragman and you thegury up, two guys that have been a part of this team for so long and I have been such a fixture within this lineup, but now they're not doing anything this season alone. We look at Bragman. BRAGMAN's always been slow to start, but here we are hitting about that sixteen game mark when really this Ashos team should offense. will be offensively, excuse me, be starting to break away from the rest of the pack as far as in the American league and kind of start to submit themselves as that best record in the American League? We're not. We're slowly starting to see it. It's starting to creep up a little bit. But we need more production from Alex Bregman, who said, who's at two hundred and twenty right now with the batting average. In fifty five games. He's got six home runs, twenty Rbis, but he's drawing. He's drawing a ton of walks, thirty three, so about. He's also struck out thirty times, which is eight fewer than Michael Brantley, a few fewer the Josie out to day I lives ys. He doesn't play a whole lot, has struck out less than Alex Bregman. You Le Gury Oh, who's right there struck out it's got thirty strikeouts on the season and he's only got three home runs, fifteen rbiys and he's batting two hundred and eighteen. So he's down that, he's below.

That mendows the line as well. Right. It's right there on it. We need more production on the corners now. Who you go out and what do you do in that sections? In that situation, obviously you can't trade fragment or or you the Gurriel. That would just cause a, you know what, storm would amongst the fans even though the fans probably probably would not be objective to it, considering the the amount of production that we're expecting to see in these two guys. Get. But yeah, that's just definitely need to get more wins for the pitching staff. Pitching staff has been someone sent me a message on twitter say Nash just need to come back. Need to come back, wins, need to get more wins. There we go with this pitching staff. This has been there where weaknesses. Doesn't seventeen. So they give up when the runs are down. So yeah, we'll see what happens. But but yeah, it's it's frustrating, specially when we look at this team and how well it could be. German Pinia has been the the light within this this lineup right now, especially you look at your Mosey out being and your dad, who who got his contract. So that's that's good. They locked him up for the next six years. So he's Beatt in two hundred and ninety nine right now. You know, seventeen home runs, thirty our GIS twenty eight walks this season, so he's drawn on the walks as well. And we kind of look at Ovrez and kind of look at the stats between him right now. He's at the top of his game right now. As far as home runs, he's ranked second behind Aaron Judge,...

...like I mentioned, was seventeen being will look at some other stats on his on base percentage. She's three hundred and ninety five. So he's ranked eight in the League right now, slugging thirty ranks and third OPS at one point zero two five, second place behind Aaron judge. I think there's going to be MVP battle, I'm going to say that right now, between Judge Alvrez, rookie of the year in two thousand and nineteen four. Ovrez, it would be nice to get him a MVP to add to his his list of accolades because he is one of the premier designated hitters left fielders playing games to lot a lot of rob raw power. We Bos seen that but, like I've mentioned Bragman, Bragman's type for six with thirty three walks, and he's in that mix Sier Amrez of the Cleveland Guardians and Jesse Winkler of the Seattle rarics as well. So bragman is drawing the walks, but we're just not seeing any other top of production and I'm curious to see what his on base percentage is, because I know I just mentioned it. But so three hundred and thirty nine, so he's getting on base a little over thirty percent of the time. So kind of tough. That's kind of tough to watch. We're back in two Tho thousand and nineteen, is on Pacer on base percentage with a four hundred and twenty three. That was high as it's been since he's joined been in the big leagues, since two thousand and sixteen. So he's kind of rout around where. His second best season was in two thousand and eighteen, where he was the three hundred and ninety four OPIA on base percentage. Excuse me, when he had thirty one home run a hundred three are guys. So that two thousand and nineteen was at MVP season where he was second only behind Mike Trout. So but definitely need more production out...

...of these key positions. If we don't, then the ashes are going to be definitely making some moves to sure up these positions, and it's unfortunate because the Ashtra was really I mean from offense, they one to nine. They could, they can dominate this division. Like to dominate this league. You know, pitching wall and get them so far. You know, if we don't get a balance US between offense and pitching, one is going to kind of start to give away here pretty soon. It's going to be the pitching. We need a good balance to for everything for the Astros to stay on course and stay where they want to go and get to where they want to go, which is that world series for dusty Baker. So but a lot of things ashes need to do. It's a matter of what they want to do to get to where they want to go. I think will see some moves here soon. I don't inticipate in June, but I think once we get to the all star breaking can get to the second half of the season, we will see the Ashos probably make some moves, make some trades. Will See some key players that we saw do so well in Trila there and sugarland. More than likely they will probably probably be moved because if they want to get good trades they're going to have to give up some top prospects and return. So but that stos have been pretty good. It kind of depends on lands for colors and you go to Rizzy, how they do as far as their recovery, getting back to the Rehab there we go, not recovery react, but to get where they need to be as far as getting back to pitching. So the pitching rotation is going to change soon. It's a good problem to have if you're the astros, but we're going to see.

What kind of production are we going to get from master colors? What kind of production? Where you get from Jacod Rizzy? Will pose your key to get back and bounce back and hopefully get back on track. That's another key thing that I really think the ashes need to get back to doing soon. But I mean for the last part. I mean saying there in first place right now, you know, thirty six and twenty one, and I would in fifty six games, first place. Second, best of all, record and I can leave behind the Yankees. So yeah, a lot of great things going on with the with the Astros right now. All right, guys, as in wrap up this twitter space for Thursday, the Astros are had the day off, so they were. We will will return. There we go. Got To spit that out there. They will return on Friday as they kick off a weekend series against the Miami of Marlins there and they may park. So a lot of things I can mentioned the astros need to do to get you know, still need to get better. If they still needed to make some bully, I believed, some key moves here as we get closer to that that trade deadline, right. So that's going to be the the target date for the Ashtros see what they're were they're at so they can assess and then, you know, go from there. Like I mentioned, Martine mob and Otto, Jason Castro Ixprag when you negrey out, those guys need to kind of pick up a little bit more of the production. You can't really put it all on you know, Germany, Pinia and Josie out to be, Michael Brantley and even Kyle Tucker. You can't put it on those guys. One through nine needs to be productive and if you want to get back and win the world series. So but we'll see what happens with the Astros. That's just kind of what I wanted to do on this live twitter space but you can follow this show on on twitter, instagram and facebook at Texas Space Ball report. If you ever have any questions you want to call in. That numbers two hundred and two two, sixty three, three, two, fifty three, you call and leave a voicemail. will do a mail bag, will get your questions answered on the air. You can...

...follow me on twitter at rip grupt and three as well. Try to do a little bit more of these twitter spaces at least once a month. We'll maybe we'll get a couple guys that you know, CJ Barriman from the Rangers, are report podcast us on just a few rot before the season started. So we'll kind of do a little bit more of that as well, kind of get a little bit more diverse with with our teams and not right it's not so focused on the actors, but but the as shows are are the team in the Miracley West Right now. I seen that at thirty six and twenty one, like I mentioned, so first place. But that's in do it for this episode. Thanks for listening, thanks for tuning into the the live twitter space. We'll get back to doing those here pretty soon. So that's into it. Take Care, I guess,.
